Later in the night I was searching around and I found an amazing publication that I thought I would share. Stash media is a monthly magazine that is mostly a DVD, but it also comes with a booklet. Stash is probably the most amazing magazines I have found is the recent years. I do not do video art but how can you not like watching amazing videos? Well stash has it all, every month. Do yourself a favor and check out this month’s issue’s trailer (linked below the picture). The subscription is quite pricey but it seems worth it. I hope to get a subscription in the next few months. Check out Stash Media magazine here.

Today seems to be going pretty well. My parents are leaving for Louisiana to help out with the hurricane relief. They are going to be gone for a week. I think this will be nice. I will have lots of time to just relax. Well somewhat relax… aside from the large load of school work that I have.

I want one.

I was just surfing the net tonight and I came across a very interesting and awesome video. Today was a great day all in all. I woke up a bit late, so I had to shower in about 5 min. Just one of those mornings I guess. I got to class in time so no problems there.

I had philosophy class at 9:30am. It’s always amazing to start the day out with some debate in philosophy. To me it beats a good cup of coffee. So in class we have been going over the role god has in philosophy for about 3 weeks now. This can get very vexing when you have a class such as mine. Many are die-hard about god. I guess they have faith. For me I think I would like to believe in god; I just haven’t gotten there yet. So here we are sitting in class talking about some essays we have read that defend the existence of god, and one that is written from an atheist.

Ok I have to go back about 45 min in time. I am always one of the first kids in class (I love being punctual.). Usually there is always one other kid… for the sake of the Internet and being anonymous on it lets call the other kid “X”. Well before class every other day X and I make small talk, nothing to interesting. Today was different X was super bothered by my statement that God has no place in philosophy, and I will get to my reasoning later. Well X was perplexed that I would even question God. Ok to my reasons, I told X that it was very possible for Got to not exist. I told X that if the band of time that we live within is infinite, and our universe is as well. That it is not necessary to have a creation. I know from experience (a posteriori) we, as humans, know beginning and end. It is hard to think that there is a possibility of no beginning or end. Well, it is. X had a hard time even understanding that the universe is expanding, or even the concept of infinity. So that was over. I angered, and in a short explanation of my thoughts bemused a fellow classmate.

So class started and we got to the debate. It all started out pretty well. Come to think of it, I think it may have only been good for me. Many people in my class were having a hard time. We went on, and somehow we got on a really great topic for a class. “If there was proof of no god. Would life be worth living?” I obviously stated my philosophy of living life for pleasure, and that it would make no large difference in my life at the moment. X raised his had and said that god was real. Not a good answer. I think that if there was no god than life would be just fine. Think about it though, If someone is living a life of virtue just to get a good seat in heaven, and then there is someone that lives a virtuous life just to live a good life. In reality the person doing good just to do good seems to have a better sense of virtue. Well all this talk just lead to the end of class where we got assigned some more essays on god. I will post some links at the bottom so if you want to check out some reading you can.

Class was over and I headed for home. My dad and brother had the day off so we went to go get some lunch. I had the good idea of going to chipotle; it was a good idea until we got there and the line was to the door. So we took the easy way out and got some fast food, crunch wrap supreme and nachos. After eating my dad and I headed over to Boarders. I needed a novel. I am kind of exasperated by all the philosophy, and physics books I have been reading; so I decided to get a fantasy book. It was a hard choice. All those fantasy novels look super cheesy and the descriptions on them seem horrible. Until I stumbled upon the J.R.R Tolkien section. I personally have never seen any of the movies. I am always told they are great. Well I figured that through my childhood I should have read “The Hobbit”, but I never got around to it. So I picked that up. I started walking around and I remembered that I needed a new copy of “Dante’s Inferno”(I lost my old copy about a year ago.). So I was very happy to pick that up as well. I got home and started reading, and took a nap. I have a psychology paper to write on stress, which should not be so hard. Well I hope to keep this posting up.

So I said earlier that god had no place in philosophy and that I would get to that later in that post. Well I forgot. I guess I got caught up in my thinking. Ok so my reasoning behind the thought that God has no place in philosophy is that it has killed the credibility (to me) of so many great philosophers. Just for example when Descartes’ epistemologist ass went to prove that god for a fact did exist. He used the most ridiculous of reasons. I just do not understand how a man with such a great mind goes down like that. So many philosophers have proved God on very ass-backwards ways. I think if they did not try proving God that all would be fine, but they have to do it. I think it would have been best for them to actually realize that finding god is a futile fight. I do not mind if they do believe in God; I just find the method of providing evidence on proving the existence, and finding the nature of God is a bad fight.

My new books

Current tunes:

Links to reading:

Dialogues Concerning
Natural Religion- David Hume

Meditations
on First Philosophy- Descartes

#3 Picture time.

Ok I am still just running some preliminary tests on this whole blogging endeavor. I need to get better at that, so I hope a blog will help. Also for all the public viewers I will put up anything that I find cool through my day. I hope this works out.

-Joe
